With new ADA requirements for digital content being enforced at school districts nationwide, Peachjar has taken careful consideration to ensure that communication sent through our platform is meeting these important requirements. In order to do that, we must utilize a text scanner to pull all of the text from your flyer and place it into a description box. Because of the complexity of this process, flyers must now be limited to a maximum of 4 pages. We understand that this is an inconvenience to those who post more than 4 pages. Here are some ideas to get your information in its entirety to parents:
- Drive Parents to Your Website - Many parents will only view the first page of your flyer. Consider whether the pages that follow are necessary. If the information is on your website it may be more effective to have something splashy on the first page of your flyer, and then drive parents to your website through the "Learn More" button.
- Host Entire Flyer Online - Another option is to host your flyer in its entirety online and then drive parents to the full version through the "Learn More" button. Please note, if you are hosting the flyer on any school server, it will be your responsibility to ensure that the document is WCAG compliant. Peachjar can only provide WCAG compliance for up to 4 pages and only for flyers hosted on our landing page or sent through our emails. Here are a few ways to do that:
- Host the PDF on your website and copy/paste the link into one of our Call to Action buttons.
- Upload your PDF to Google Drive. Once uploaded, from your browser, right-click the document and select "get shareable link". Click "sharing settings" and select "On -Public on the web." Use this URL in your "Learn More" button.
We know that these changes will mean adjustments to the way you distribute your flyers; however, this is an overall positive change and will allow Peachjar to be an inclusive platform for all parents while also complying with federal requirements. We are excited to have this ability and we appreciate your cooperation as we navigate these changes! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
